Love this vintage early 1960's, high fashion style coat with it's fabulous boxy MOD design! It's straight out of London's swinging sixties via Carnaby St.
The grey and cream fabric is a soft, woven wool. This coat is so versatile in design, as shown it can be worn in several fashions. The excellent design includes a self belt, two large pockets and cuffed sleeves.
It is cut in an A-line fashion with lots of fullness throughout the body as shown on this size 8 model, best suited for this size, or a slightly smaller or larger size.
Measurements are approximately 42" bust and 49" waist. The shoulder measurement is 15.5". The entire length of this awesome vintage coat is 46" from collar to hem. The sleeves are 21" from shoulder to cuffed hem, 23" long if unucuffed. The label is from "Cojana of London, England." It is 80% wool, 20% nylon.
The designer: Cojana International Fashions Limited was at 18 GREAT MARLBOROUGH STREET, LONDON, W1V 2DX and incorporated in 1966. They used to sell their coats under their own label and these were stocked by Harrods. They also made coats for Harrods under their label as well as for Chanel. Their buyers used to go to Paris every year to buy 'toilles' (patterns) from Chrisian Dior, Chanel etc. The company did specialize in coats, but also made beautiful suits. The blue suit that Diana Spencer wore for her engagement photos to Prince Charles was one of "Cojana" creations bought at Harrods.
This "Cojana" coat is in EXCELLENT vintage condition. Originally priced here for $185.
