I was lucky enough to be among the privileged to have the opportunity to purchase authentic vintage 1920's hats, flapper dresses, and other period costumes from the wardrobe department of Boardwalk Empire! I purchased 50+ vintage hats including men's fedoras, derbys, a top hat and 2 boaters. This piece is one of those items. Within the clothing I bought was 2 dozen women's beaded, flapper dresses, 2 velvet evening coats/capes and lots of gorgeous men's vests and knickers. I will be listing them as time permits. Here we have a vintage 1930's wide brim hat that is made of black, nylon horsehair crinoline with an interesting open weave design around the entire hat brim. The hat is in excellent shape. It has an open crown design. There is a black velvet ribbon which comes to a bow around the front. A gorgeous crimson velvet carnation tops the ribbon. There is no label, however there is a label that indicates it is from Boardwalk Empire season 5. I cannot attribute this to any particular person or actress, but I can guarantee that it is from the wardrobe department of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. I measured 20" crown circumference inside. This style of hat can be worn by any head size though as it just sits on top anyway. The wide brim measures 15.5" in diameter. A great hat for Downton Abbey or Victorian costumes.
